Brussels, 03/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Community reference laboratory in Weybridge, UK, confirmed, on 3 March, the first case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) on a cow of 12 years of age in Sweden. Further to this case, the Commission will take another look at the derogation that had hitherto allowed Sweden to avoid testing all beef and veal entering the human food chain.
