24/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Commission continues to pay close attention to the actions of the Spanish authorities with regard to the takeover bid launched by E.ON for Endesa (EUROPE 9137). Madrid must refrain from invoking a 1999 law authorising the Spanish government to intervene when a foreign company hopes to acquire a stake greater than 3% in a public company in the field of energy, a Commission spokesperson warned on Friday.
