Brussels, 21/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Monday the Council adopted, without debate, several common actions and appointed till February 2007 Peter Semneby (Sweden) as Special Representative for the European Union to the Southern Caucasus (replacing Heikki Talvitie from Finland), and extending till 28 February 2007, mandates for the special representatives to: - the African Great Lakes, Aldo Ajello from Italy; - Afghanistan, Francesc Vendrell from Spain; - Moldova, Adriaan Jacobovits de Szeged from the Netherlands; - central Asia, Jan Kubis, Slovakia; - Middle East, Marc Otte, Belgium; - Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Erwan Fouéré, Ireland. The mandate for Mr Otte was modified to take into account the EU observation mission of the border post at Rafah, in place since November 2005, and that for Mr Fouéré was modified to take into account the EU consultative team in charge of police issues in FYROM since December 2005.
