08/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Global Chamber Platform (GCP), which regroups chambers of commerce and industry throughout the world (including Eurochambres) has launched an appeal to the Iranian Chamber of Commerce to do all it can to prevent the Iranian president imposing an economic embargo on the western world. The president of the GCP, Christoph Leitl affirmed in a press release that “The Iranian Chamber, as a member of the Global Platform, has signed a declaration pointing out that representatives of this organisation promote tolerance, mutual understanding and peace. An economic embargo would have exactly the opposite effect. The business community should attempt to build bridges and bring people together. It should not be exploited as an instrument for stirring up political conflicts”.
