Brussels, 08/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has given its approval to the project of MBDA, a joint venture between EADS, BAE Systems and Finmeccanica, to acquire EADS Deutschland's guided weapons activities, which are grouped in the companies VM and TDW. Following an enquiry, the Commission established that there are “few” competitive overlaps between these two branches of EADS Deutschland and the joint venture MBDA. Following the operation there should still be significant competitors, particularly in the missile market, and the purchasing power of the interior ministries of the EU Member States leaves no doubts, judged the Commission, which therefore does not perceive any anti-competitive behaviour in the creation of the new entity.
