06/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - Following the sinking on 1 February off the Cherbourg coast (France) of a ship carrying 10,000 tonnes of phosphoric acid, the president of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR), Claudio Martini, announced that the CPMR would fight “for an overarching EU maritime policy to cover all issues related to the sea, including transport, vessel safety, crew training, the introduction of a European flag, and fisheries”.
