GENERAL NEWS / (eu) eu/infringements

02/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has sent reasoned opinions, the second stage in the infringement procedure, to Germany and Luxemburg for failure to transpose into national law the 26 May 2003 directive banning advertising of and sponsorship by tobacco products. These two countries already each received a letter of formal notice in October 2005. They now have two months to comply, otherwise the Commission will refer the matter to the Court.
