Brussels, 06/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - Commission President José Manuel Barroso and Culture Commissioner Jan Figel are to organise a “brainstorming lunch” with representatives of the world of culture on 12 January in Brussels. The meeting will focus on open discussion on intercultural dialogue and on the role of culture in the European integration process, Commission Spokesman Johannes Laitenberger announced on Friday. “This is part of the effort made by Messrs Barroso and Figel to strengthen the role of culture in discussion on the future of Europe”, he said. Participants at the lunch include the director for the TV channel ARTE, Jérôme Clément, the director of the Théatre de la Monnaie in Brussels, Bernard Foccroulle, the singer, Barbara Hendrix, and Lebanese philosopher, Amin Malouf.
