Brussels, 14/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Parliament adopted a favourable stance on the appointment of eight new members of the Court of Auditors: - Finnish national Olavi Ala Nissilä (appointment approved by secret ballot with 519 votes to 28 and 60 abstentions); - Maire Geoghegan-Quinn of Ireland (551 to 23 and 45 abstentions); - Lars Heikensten of Sweden (550 to 28 and 45 abstentions); - Danish national Morten Louis Levysohn (546 to 33 and 36 abstentions), Karel Pinxten of Belgium (529 to 47 and 43 abstentions); Juan Ramallo Massanet of Spain (526 to 36 and 47 abstentions); - Portuguese Vitor Manuel da Silva Caldeira (538 to 26 and 46 abstentions), and Massimo Vari of Italy (514 to 33 and 40 abstentions).
