Brussels, 13/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - A conference of the Council of Europe on "Cyber-crime: a global challenge, a global response" has taken place in Madrid. The conference, which was organised in cooperation with the Spanish Ministry of Justice and the Organisation of American States (OEA), was attended, amongst others, by the Spanish Minister for Justice, Juan Fernando Lopez Aguilar, the Director-General for Legal Affairs of the Council of Europe, Guy De Vel, representatives of governments and parliaments, experts from the member states of the Council of Europe and the OEA, together with representatives of the private sector.
The objective was to promote the accession of as many countries as possible to the 2001 Convention of the Council of Europe on cyber-crime (for further information, see: http://www.coe.int/cyber ).
