Brussels, 29/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - The delegation of the French National Assembly for the European Union, chaired by Pierre Lequillier, is to hold a working meeting with a European Parliament delegation in Brussels on 30 November on the subject of the proposal for a services directive, known as the “Bolkestein Directive”. The EP Committee on the Internal Market has already spoken out on the Gebhardt report (see EUROPE 9074) but the plenary vote is foreseen in principle for February 2006. Wednesday's meeting comes within the effort to make national parliaments participate more actively in European decision-making in line with their respective competences.
Mr Lequillier expressed his intention to renew this form of collaboration in future with the European Parliament on the main European topical issues.
