New proposed compromise on sugar reform to be examined on Wednesday morning

Brussels, 23/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday morning, the agriculture ministers of the EU are to examine a second proposed compromise by the UK Presidency on the reform of the common market organisation (CMO) for sugar. This text takes account, as far as possible, of criticism voiced on Tuesday and Wednesday by nine Member States (including Italy and Spain) at the reading of the first compromise drawn up by the Presidency, together with the European Commission (EUROPE 9073).
