23/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - On 22 November, the European Parliament Legal Affairs Committee finally delivered its decision on removing Parliamentary immunity from French National Front MEP, Bruno Gollnisch, according to a press release from rapporteur Diana Wallis (Liberal Democrat, UK). Several months were required to come to a decision which, if upheld in the European Parliament plenary, will offer a new interpretation on the ban on removing immunity because of the opinions and voting of a sitting MEP. Coming to its decision, the committee judged that Bruno Gollnisch was not acting as a member of the European Parliament when he stated at a press conference on 11 October 2004 in Lyons that he was one of those historians who disputed the existence of the gas chambers. The plenary vote could take place during the 29 and 30 November session in Brussels.
