Brussels, 22/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, the CENTR - Council of European National Top Level Domain Registries, which brings together top-level internet domain manager organisations - says that it entirely shares the vision of Kofi Annan, who has said that “the day to day management of the internet must be left to technical institutions”, well away from “the heat of politics”. The Secretary General of the UN expressed himself in these terms last week in Tunis at the World Summit on Information Society, appealing for more international governance of the internet. CENTR also welcomes the Summit's recommendation to create a Forum for the governance of the net, “will contribute to (…) democratic approach to internet issues” (see EUROPE 9069).
