22/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - The presidents of Italian cooperatives within the fisheries sector (Mr Buonfiglio of Agci Pesca, Mr Coccia of Federcoopesca and Mr Ianì of Lega Pesca) have issued a press release in which they welcome the assurances of the European Commissioner for Fisheries, Joe Borg, who has written them to inform them of his intention to present a communication, early in 2006, on specific aid to struggling enterprises in the fisheries sector (whose problems are largely due to increases in oil prices). The Italian organisations note with satisfaction that in his letter, Commissioner Borg promises that the planned measures will help the fishing sector "as quickly as possible".
