Strasbourg, 17/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - At their meeting to follow up on the Warsaw Summit, the foreign ministers of the 46 Member States of the Council of Europe held, as planned, a brief discussion with Luxembourg prime minister Jean-Claude Juncker, asked by the Summit to prepare a report on future relations between the EU and the Council of Europe. Jean-Claude Juncker said he would be publishing his report in the spring of next year (probably in April, Ed.). It would highlight synergies to be established between the EU and the Council of Europe and duplication to be avoided. Juncker mentioned synergies like improving cooperation between the European Parliament and the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly. In his report, Jean-Claude Juncker is expected to call for the EU to sign the European Convention of Human Rights. This was agreed by the EU Member States at the last intergovernmental conference and is included in the Constitutional Treaty in deadlock since the French and Dutch referendums.
