Declarations on immigration and disasters in Asia and Latin America

Brussels, 12/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament has made a few small changes to the agenda of its session in Brussels on Wednesday and Thursday, adding a statement by vice-president Alejo Vidal-Quadras Roca on the earthquake in Pakistan and the floods in Guatemala to the opening of the session. On tropical storm Stan in Latin America (particularly Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Mexico), President Borrell noted that this had been one of the "worst tragedies ever experienced by this region, which has already paid a high price in natural disasters, including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and cyclones". On Wednesday, the MEPs will also hear statements and from the Council on illegal immigration (see other article). The report by Benard Lehideux on the EU/ACP sugar protocol, planned for Thursday, has been postponed to the November session.
