The British pharmaceutical distribution groups BOOTS and ALLIANCE UNICHEM have announced their intention to merge, creating a giant which will encompass some 2600 point-of-sale with a turnover in excess of thirteen billion pounds sterling. BOOTS will hold 50.2% of the new entity, and ALLIANCE UNICHEM the remainder.
