Brussels, 04/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - Conciliation procedure is inevitable to seek to bring the European Parliament and Council closer over the proposal for a directive aimed at strengthening the legislation that currently exists on managing mining waste (amendment of Directive 2004/35/EC). As the Council has already pointed out informally that it would not be able to accept all the amendments voted in second reading by the Parliament (EUROPE 9022), MEPs taking part in conciliation procedure held their first meeting on 27 September in Strasbourg. The date for opening conciliation procedure will be fixed in the near future.
