Brussels, 04/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - Youth organisations have a central role to play in preventing violence in young people, by organising specific programmes and actions which involve young people directly, and this is why it is vital that these organisations have their voices heard by the governments, stressed the European Youth Forum, on the sidelines of the "Youth" Conference, which was held by the Council of Europe in Budapest on 23 and 24 September. With this in mind, the Forum will offer its political support for the implementation of the priorities set by the Council of Europe for the period 2006-2008. The ministers responsible for youth issues adopted a declaration in Budapest, which suggests a series of measures to prevent and curtail all forms of violence, which young people may be the victims or the instigators of.
