20/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - Dialog'09 is holding a conference on the subject "English as world language: why learn any others ?" at the Goethe Institute in Brussels on 26 September. On the occasion of the European Day of Languages, the new network, which was created by young German speakers to promote a broad debate on the future of Europe, is asking about the future of other languages, as "on a day-to-day basis, the main language is usually bad English". Those taking part in the conference will plead in favour of Portuguese, Swedish, Estonian and Hungarian (and also Norwegian). In a press release, Dialog'09 stresses its determination to create more interest in Europe to achieve a greater electoral turn-out for the European elections of June 2009.
