Brussels, 20/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - The ministers for youth of the countries of the Council of Europe are to meet in Budapest on 23 and 24 September, to discuss actions to be launched in order to prevent day-to-day violence. Under the theme: "Human Dignity and Social Cohesion: youth policy responses to violence", the ministers will discuss their experience in this field, exchange examples of best practice and decide upon joint preventive actions, particularly by using partnerships between their ministers and civil society. Three working sessions have been planned, which will tackle urban violence and violence at school, racist discourse and into-cultural dialogue, and the involvement of young people in the prevention of violence in Europe. 24 September will see the launch of the campaign for diversity, human rights and involvement, which will be launched in June 2006 in the 48 States which are party to the cultural Convention of the Council of Europe. Over 80 young people will meet on 21 and 22 September at the European Youth Centre in Budapest to discuss the subjects dealt with by the ministers and the contribution young people can make to violence-prevention policies, before taking part in the work of the ministerial conference.
