Brussels, 08/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament has adopted the draft rectifying budget 3/2005 with no amendments, which will allow the contribution of the Member States to the funding of the budget 2005 to be reduced by 2.7 billion EUR. This covers the surplus resulting from the financial year 2004, which will be included in the 2005 budget under revenue. This overall reduction for the Member States will be influenced by the updating of the forecasts for own resources, including the sum total of the British rebate and the budgetisation of the guarantee fund surplus for external loans. These forecasts come under a separate preliminary draft rectifying budget, which the Commission presented last June (preliminary draft rectifying budget 5/2005), which will again change the total contribution for each country. The report by Salvador Garrigua Polledo on this subject was adopted by 606 votes in favour, 16 against and 44 abstentions.
