06/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - EU High Representative for CFSP, Javier Solana, has expressed wishes for the speedy recovery of Kosovo President Ibrahim Rugova, who announced on Monday that he is suffering from lung cancer, but would be continuing with his work. 'President Rugova's contribution is essential in this crucial phase Kosovo is going through. I am therefore confident that everybody will show solidarity with the President and will continue to work in unity, bearing in mind the general interests of Kosovo and all of its people,' said Solana. NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer also expressed his 'deepest sympathy' to President Ibrahim Rugova. 'His decision to remain in his duty as President during this important period in Kosovo's evolution demonstrates his courage. I call on all parties to demonstrate maturity and continue to work towards a peaceful and stable future for Kosovo,' he said.
