Brussels, 26/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - After a meeting on Friday in Vienna with the Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed El Baradei, the new chief Iranian negotiator on nuclear affairs, Ali Larijani, told reporters that Teheran would unveil new negotiating proposals to Europeans in one month's time. Larijani said the new Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, needed a month or so to formulate new proposals. The EU3 (Germany, France and the UK) has been negotiating on behalf of the EU, but refused to return to the negotiating table on 31 August (see EUROPE 9012), but Larijani has not ruled out holding new discussions with the EU3. He suggested, however, that other countries, like South Africa, should be involved in the negotiations. Larijani welcomed the outcome of his meeting with Mohamed El Baradei (who will be submitting a decisive report on Iran's nuclear situation on 3 September), slamming the 'nuclear apartheid' that some nuclear powers want to impose on Iran.
