26/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - The 3rd European Jurists' Forum is to be held in Geneva from 7-9 September. This year's event is being hosted by the Swiss Jurists' Association. Luzius Wildhaber, President of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, and Vassilios Skouris, President of the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, will be among the high-level speakers. A press release indicates that the Forum will discuss the responsibly of corporate and supervisory organs in Europe in the light of recent corporate governance scandals; the development of a common European law of civil procedure as an essential component of judicial cooperation; and the coordination of the protection of fundamental rights in Europe, given the multiple sources of law in this area and the different jurisdictions at national, EU and Europe-wide levels. The first Jurists' Forum was held in Nuremberg in 2000, and the second in Athens in 2003. (Info: Rene Haller, MCI Geneva, Tel: +41 22 339 9593 rene.haller@mci-group.com )
