27/07/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday Ettore Iani', president of the Lega Pesca, called on Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi to organise a special meeting with representatives from the sector, together with representatives from several ministries to discuss a single-point agenda, “the fishing emergency” (EUROPE 8998 on the colloquy on this subject, which Mr Iani' attended with MEPs Massimo D'Alema and Claudio Fava). The Lega Pesca explained in a press released that such a meeting would necessitate the examination of the recent hike in diesel prices and the “imminent approval of the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) and the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP)” as well as the involvement in finding a solution, of the Departments of Agriculture, the Economy and Finance and Productive Activities.
