British and South African brewer SABMILLER has bought out Colombia's BAVARIA for USD 7.8 bn (including debt of USD 3 bn). With a turnover of USD 1.9 bn in 2004, producing 28.6 million hectolitres of beer, BAVARIA is Latin America's second biggest beer producer. The deal creates a giant company worth USD 12.5 bn, with a workforce of 52,000, present in more than 50 countries round the world.
