Latin-American banana-producing countries hope to create Union to oppose future European customs tariffs

Brussels, 15/07/2005 (Agence Europe) - Meeting in San José (Costa Rica) on 7 July, the Presidents of the Latin American banana-producing countries (Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua and Honduras) took the decision to form a union to oppose the duty the European Union is trying to impose on their banana imports.
