Flight bans against Turkish airline Onur Air rekindle debate on air company safety

Brussels, 19/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - Some see this as a first step towards a Europe of safer transport, but the impetus has come from bans imposed by individual Member States and not by the EU. After the Netherlands, two Member States of the European Union, Germany and France, and also Switzerland, decided last week to suspend the activities of the Turkish airline company, Onur Air, on their territory in application of the precautionary principle.
