Proposal for sharply increased justice and home affairs budget, especially for asylum and immigration

Brussels, 06/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission proposed a steep increase in the budget devoted by the European Commission to its policy of freedom, security and justice. In its range of detailed proposals for the financial perspectives for the period 2007-2013, the College proposes a budget of 8.3 billion EUR for this policy (in 2004 prices, or 9.5 billion EUR in constant prices taking account of inflation forecasts).
