ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) technology

German company SIEMENS has offered 1.2 billion euros to buy FLENDER (turnover of 1.01 billion euros in 2003/2004 and 6700 employees), a German manufacturer of gear systems, from the American CITIGROUP. The Automation and Drives division of SIEMENS, which would take over FLENDER's activities, had a turnover of 8.8 billion euros in 2004.
