Brussels, 17/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - In Brussels on 25 February, the European Commission's Directorate General for Enterprise is organising a conference together with employers and trade unions from the furnishing industry on the future of the furnishing industry in the enlarged EU. The conference will look at changes in the EU furnishing industry, identifying ways of improving competitiveness and the business environment for the industry. Participants will also discuss employment perspectives and challenges surrounding human resources in the industry.
The conference will be attended by representatives of the European Commission, Member States, EU candidate countries, MEPs, members of industry associations, European trade unions and consumer associations. The European Commissioner for industry and Enterprise, Gunter Verheugen, will make the keynote address.
