Juncker calls on institutions to make common effort to read draft directive

Strasbourg, 12/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - Questioned during the debate on the Luxembourg Presidency with regard to the draft directive (Bolkestein directive) on services in the internal market, Jean-Claude Juncker declared: "we are not saying no to a directive that could generate job creation, but we have to make a common effort to rid the directive of the risk of social dumping, which slipped into the draft" . He launched an appeal in which he said that the wanted the Council, Commission and Parliament to examine line by line this text to detect any potential risks and make a "common effort of reading" the text.
