Brussels, 10/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the Transport Council agreed on general guidelines for the proposed directive to facilitate the recognition of qualifications of sailors issued by the Member States of the EU. In its text, the Council got rid of all language requirements for sailors, which had been included in the Commission's initial proposal. The European Parliament is still to take position on the proposal, at first reading.
