30/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - G20 which brings together finance ministers and governors from the central banks of the G7 and twelve emerging economies, will be presided by Australia in 2006. The Australian secretary to the Treasury, Peter Costello, welcomed this appointment made in Berlin during the last G20 meeting on 19-20 November. he is planning to work in close collaboration with the current presidency, Germany and China, which takes over from it in 2005. As part of the G20, Australia will host several meetings and workshops on international and regional issues. According to Mr Costello, the advantage of this groups is its small but relatively diverse composition which provides a balance of viewpoints from advances and developing countries.
