Agreement expected on 19 November on asylum procedures before agreement on list of 'safe countries'

Brussels, 12/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - Next Friday's Justice and Home Affairs Council is expected to adopt the directive concerning asylum application processing procedures without the infamous common list of 'safe countries'. The list will be used to decide which asylum applications will be considered unjustified a priori by all EU Member States. Asylum seekers from countries on the safe list will be subject to an accelerated processing procedure since the EU believes the country they hail...
