MEPs protest during signing ceremony in Rome

Brussels, 22/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - Mario Borghezio, European elected member of Lega Nord, has announced in a press release that, when the European Constitution is signed on 29 October, "we shall bring to Rome nearly forty MEPs of the Independence and Democracy group headed by Jens-Peter Bonde, all determined to counter-inform on the undemocratic and centralising nature of the Constitution". The European Constitution aims to "harmonise into one European super-State" the extraordinary diversities existing in the European regions and nations, Mr Borghezio complains, not hesitating to speak of "real genocide of cultures and traditions" and the clash between "Europe and freedom" and the "Europe of strong and occult powers".
