Different political groups begin to put candidates forward to succeed Kofi Annan, 2003 Sakharov Prizewinner

Strasbourg, 17/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Greens/EFA, ALDE, PES and GUE/NGL have officially announced who they are putting forward for the Sakharov Prize. They are, respectively, the Chechen activist Natalia Estemirova; the NGO, Reporters without Borders; and three peace activists, Rachel Corrie, Enzo Baldoni and Dr Leonid Roshal; as well as Colombian deputy Ingrid Bétancourt. Awarded each year in December, the Sakharov Prize rewards personalities or organisations devoted to the defence...
