Brussels, 16/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - On 10 September, the European Commission adopted rules on prohibiting fishing of certain fish stocks until the end of the year due to the fact that quotas attributed to the Member States for 2004 are now exhausted. Measures concern: - megrim caught by vessels under Portuguese flag in the north and north-eastern zones of Spain, the Azores and off the Portuguese coast; - anglerfish caught by French vessels also in the north and north-eastern zones of Spain, the Azores and the Portuguese coast; - and sandeel caught in the Norwegian Sea, the North Sea, Skagerrak and Kattegat by vessels of a Member State whose name is not mentioned (it does not, however, concern Danish or British vessels which are massively present in these zones). The regulations are published in the Official Journal L292 of 15 September 2004.
