Mr Nassauer and Mr Ferber feel Commission should take political, financial and institutional consequences of accession into account - Warnings issued by Ms Sommer and Mr Langen

Brussels, 09/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - As the 6 October approaches, when the Commission will recommend to the Heads of State and Government of the 25 whether or not it feels they should open accession negotiations with Turkey, warnings from German members of the EPP-ED group at the European Parliament against starting negotiations are multiplying (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.5, on statements by Elmar Brok, CDU MEP and president of the Committee on Foreign Affairs).
