Turks support accession, but not strong role for EU - Diversity and scepticism on Turkish candidacy amongst Europeans

Brussels, 09/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - The public opinion war is far from won in the Member States, but nor is it a lost cause, says a survey carried out by the American foundation, the German Marshall Fund.

It is interesting to note that neutrality and indecision rule the day on controversial issues: on average, in the 9 Member States covered by the survey, those who felt that accession was neither a good thing nor a bad made up the largest group (40%), ahead of those in favour (30%),...
