French company DANONE (first half of 2004 turnover stood at EUR 7 bn) is going to sell its business interest in the United Kingdom (JACOB'S) and in Ireland (IRISH BISCUITS) to the British company UNITED BISCUITS, for slightly more than EUR 360 million. JACOB'S (brands such as Jacob's Cream, Crackers, Tuc and Thai Bites) and IRISH BISCUITS had a global turnover of EUR 266 million in 2003 and employ 1700.
