27/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - The President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, has informed the European Ombudsman by letter that the Commission has decided to agree to reduce from three to two months the time limit for giving an opinion on complaints received by the Ombudsman about refusal to give access to documents. Nikiforos Diamandouros welcomes this commitment on the part of the Commission at his request in a field that affects the transparency of European institutions.
