Mario Monti reacts following Rocco Buttiglione's appointment - Vladimir Spidla expected to take over from Commissioner Pavel Telicka

Brussels, 26/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - European Commissioner for Competition Mario Monti will be replaced at the Commission by Rocco Buttiglione, Italian minister for European affairs and former MEP. Silvio Berlusconi announced his decision last Friday (taken under pressure from Christian Democratic partners in government coalition).
