Commission authorises public service compensation regime in electricity supply

Brussels, 14/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission authorised the implementation of a public service compensation mechanism paid for by a levy collected from Irish electricity customers. This compensation mechanism, which enters into force on 19 February 2005, will finance short-term measures by the Electricity Supply Board (ESB), the public electricity supplier.
