419 cases of BSE in first six months of year

Brussels, 07/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - According to figures published recently by the services of Commissioner David Byrne, the Member States detected a total of 419 cases of BSE in the first six months of 2004. The United Kingdom registered 152 of them, followed by Ireland by 68 cases, Spain (60), Portugal (44), Germany (33), France (30), Belgium and Poland (7 each), the Netherlands (5), the Czech Republic (4), Italy and Slovakia (3 each) and Denmark and Slovenia (1 each).
