Pascal Lamy calls for all developed countries, especially United States, to set pace on EU proposals to make WTO negotiations a success

Brussels, 05/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - At the EU-Africa forum on cotton, to be held in Paris on 5 and 6 July (see EUROPE of 3 July, p.11), Pascal Lamy, European Commissioner for Trade, has reaffirmed the EU's willingness to make an active contribution to a global solution to the problem of trade distortion, to which African cotton has fallen victim on the world market, as a combined effect of internal support and rich countries' export subsidies.
