Commission to impose fines on Tetra-Laval for failure to notify Sidel takeover during inquiry

Brussels, 05/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission is expected to impose a fine on Tetra Laval because the Swedish packaging firm is said to have failed to forward information during the investigation carried out in 2001 on repurchase of the French company, Sidel. According to the former merger regulation which applies in this case, the fine could be between 1000 to 50,000 euros. Having committed two faults, Tetra Laval may have to pay up to 100,000 euros.
