Brussels, 28/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - Javier Solana, High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy was pleased to welcome the election victory of Boris Tadic, on Sunday during the second round of the Serbian presidential elections. Solana said that Tadic was a friend of Europe and that he was eagerly looking forward to work with him. Solana also underlined that that Serbians had made a choice that demonstrated the desire for a European future for the country and that the EU was keen on providing aid to attain this objective. Calling on all democratic forces to work together to achieve rapid progress in this direction, Mr Solana exhorted the new President of Serbia and the government of the country to resolve the pending questions at a federation level.
